About Project Purr
Project Purr is an all volunteer nonprofit FERAL cat/kitten rescue organization.

Project Purr has a FERAL cat low cost spay/neuter Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) program for residents of Santa Cruz County, California available at two locations, north and south Santa Cruz County. Animal Hospital of Soquel in Santa Cruz, and East Lake Animal Clinic in Watsonville, are the veterinary clinics currently providing services for this program. Find out more here.

Project Purr is a resource for FERAL cat colony caretakers and those who want to learn more about TNR or implement TNR programs.

Project Purr is not an animal shelter or cat adoption agency - although Project Purr does sometimes have cats/kittens available for adoption.. Please contact us at the following address and phone number:

Contacting Project Purr
Please leave a message, including a name and clearly stated phone number, at 831.423.MEOW(6369) and a volunteer will respond as soon as possible.

NOTE: WE ARE NOT A HOTLINE SERVICE- if you have an animal emergency, call Santa Cruz County Animal Services at 831.454.7303…or Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital at 831.475.5400.

Due to the lack of enough funding Project Purr has no shelter facility. We foster as many cats/kittens in our own homes as space and time allows - usually these are cats we have trapped and rescued ourselves.

Trapping
You can rent traps (for no charge, but requires deposit) from Santa Cruz County Animal Services in Santa Cruz/ 454-7303, the Watsonville Animal Shelter/ 454-7303, Aptos Hansen's Feed/685-3333, Hansen's Feed/722-1144, and Aromas Feed/726-1953. The purpose of this website is to provide current information, please check it first - it's possible that your questions can be answered here!

Project Purr is not a feral cat removal or re-homing service - although we do assist with information/equipment for people willing to do the right thing and who can facilitate it themselves.

Spay/Neuter Saves Lives!!!

Adoptions
Project Purr does not operate a shelter, but we sometimes have rescued cats and kittens for adoption. Adoptable kitties can be found on our ADOPTABLE page (and if you don't see someone you like, please ask - we may know of a cat or kitten not currently pictured on the website).

All cats have been tested for FELV and FIV, have current vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. A donation of $125. for kittens and $95. for cats (sometimes less) is requested at the time of adoption.

Other Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Services for Santa Cruz County
